What can I do?

Your guide to using the Martindale Vault services.

Jellyfin

Watch Movies & TV

Browse our movies and shows in Jellyfin. Playback quality depends on your device and connection.

Family Files (NAS)

Personal Folders

Use your personal folder for your own files. Ask Cole to confirm who has access before uploading sensitive documents; he manages the server and its permissions.

Great for: Your own photos and backups

Shared Folders (Family)

Shared folders are for family members who have been given access. Check the folder with Cole before uploading; a shared folder is not automatically a public web link. It's a community space for us to share memories.

Great for: Wedding photos, family reunion videos, recipes

Home Videos

Martindale Family Home Videos

Our family YouTube channel. Easily sharable videos with friends and family.

Start Setup

Jellyfin Setup

Before you start

Ask Cole for the Jellyfin username and password for your account. Say which device you want to watch on. Use the login details he gives you for Jellyfin, rather than assuming your UGREEN login will work.

Keep this guide open on your phone while you set up a TV. After installing an app, come back here for the server address and login step.

1. What device are you using?

Computer (Windows or Mac)

No installation needed. Open Jellyfin in your browser, sign in with the Jellyfin details Cole gave you, choose a movie or episode, then press Play.

Open Jellyfin in a new tab
iPhone or iPad

Install Jellyfin from the App Store on the device you will watch on. Open the app, then follow steps 2 and 3 below.

Get Jellyfin for iPhone / iPad
Android phone or tablet

Install Jellyfin from Google Play on your phone or tablet. Open it, then follow steps 2 and 3 below.

Get Jellyfin for Android
Apple TV

On the Apple TV, open the App Store and search for Swiftfin, a Jellyfin player. Install and open it. Add the server address in step 2, then sign in in step 3.

View Swiftfin in the App Store ↗
Roku

On your Roku, search for Jellyfin in its channel store. Add and open it, then follow steps 2 and 3 below.

View the Roku channel ↗
Android TV, Google TV, or Fire TV

On the TV or streaming device, search its app store for Jellyfin. If it is available, install and open it, then follow steps 2 and 3. If you cannot find it, send Cole your device model so he can check compatibility.

Another TV, or I am not sure

Text Cole the TV brand and model, and the name of any streaming box or stick connected to it. He can help choose the right app. You can use Jellyfin in a computer browser while you wait.

2 Add the server

In your TV, phone, or tablet app, choose the option to add a server. The Server Address tells the app where our movie collection lives. Computer browser users can skip this step.

https://jellyfin.martindalevault.com

In the Jellyfin app: Add Server → paste the address above.

On a TV, type the full address above with your remote, including https:// and with no spaces. Copying it on your phone does not copy it to your TV.

3 Log In

Use the Jellyfin username and password Cole gave you.

Once signed in, choose a movie or episode and press Play. If your login does not work, check uppercase letters and extra spaces, then text Cole for help.

Troubleshooting

Buffering?

Click the gear icon during playback and lower quality to 720p - 4Mbps.

Wrong Password?

Text Cole. He can help reset it.

Family Files Setup

Have your account details ready

Ask Cole for your UGREEN Link ID, username, and password. Tell him you want photos and files access. The Link ID finds our server; your username and password sign you in. Use the UGREEN details he provides, which may differ from Jellyfin.

What is this?

Think of this as our own private "Google Drive" or "iCloud" that sits in my house. It's a safe place for family photos, important documents, and computer backups, without paying monthly fees to big companies.

2 Connect via Link

When you open the app:

  1. Tap Log in to existing (or "Link ID").
  2. It will ask for a UGREEN Link ID.
  3. Text Cole to get the Link ID.

3 Log In

Once connected, log in with your personal username & password.

Text Cole for your Username & Password.

Connected? Here is what to do next.

Open the photos and files guide to find a shared folder, upload your first file, or set up phone photo backup.

Photos & Files

Use the UGREEN NAS app for family photos, shared files, and your own backups.

First time here?

Get your UGREEN login from Cole, then connect the app to our server.

Already connected?

Open UGREEN NAS on your device and choose the server you connected earlier. Follow the steps below inside that app. This guide does not display your files.

Find family photos and shared files
  1. Open File Manager in UGREEN NAS.
  2. Open the shared folder Cole told you to use, then open a photo or file.
  3. If the folder is missing or access is denied, ask Cole to check your account permissions and the folder name.

You can also browse your photo library in Photos. If it says “No library available,” ask Cole to enable your personal folder.

Upload your first photo or file
  1. Ask Cole which folder is for family sharing and which is for your own files.
  2. Open that folder in File Manager and choose Upload. Select one photo or file to start.
  3. Wait for the transfer to finish. Open the uploaded file from the destination folder to check it arrived.

If your app looks different or you cannot find Upload, send Cole a screenshot of that screen. Keep the original file.

Back up photos from your phone

Connect to Wi-Fi first. These steps follow UGREEN’s current guide; menu names may differ on our server.

  1. In UGREEN NAS, open Sync & Backup → Photo Backup and enable it. If that option is missing, ask Cole to check that Photos and Sync & Backup are installed on the server.
  2. Choose the phone albums to back up and allow access to those photos when prompted.
  3. Choose the destination folder Cole confirmed for your own backups. Avoid a family shared folder unless you intend to share those photos.
  4. Start the backup. Check its progress in Sync & Backup and wait for the remaining items to finish.
  5. Open a recent photo from the destination folder to verify the copy. Keep your originals until you have confirmed the backup.

If progress stalls, reopen the app on Wi-Fi and check the task for an error. Send Cole the error if it continues.

Who can see my files?

Access depends on the folder’s permissions. Cole manages those permissions and can confirm who has access. A family shared folder does not automatically mean a public web link. Check before uploading anything sensitive.

Help & FAQ

Cannot connect to Jellyfin or UGREEN?

  1. Try opening another website to check your internet connection.
  2. For Jellyfin, check the complete server address in the setup guide. For UGREEN, check the Link ID Cole gave you.
  3. If your internet works but the service still will not open, text Cole which app and device you are using, the error message, and whether you are on Wi-Fi or mobile data. The server may need attention.

This guide does not monitor whether the server is online. Do not include your password in screenshots.

Missing photos, folders, or a backup?

Confirm you signed in with the UGREEN account Cole gave you. Check backup progress in the app. If a folder is missing, access is denied, or a backup reports an error, send Cole the folder name or error so he can check access and storage.

What is Jellyfin?

It's like our own private Netflix. You can watch all our movies and shows without any subscription fees.

Do I need the app?

For phones/TVs, the app is best. On a computer, click "Watch in Browser" to open Jellyfin.

It's buffering...

Try lowering the quality. Tap the gear icon and select 720p - 4Mbps.

Login not working?

Text Cole. He can help reset your password.
